about

When I first moved to Singapore, I was sure I was going to find a way to play punk-rock. I tried playing with some people, and wanted to die, as I couldn't find anyone who understood how to play "shit-rock" with the correct emotional commitment to feedback. So If I couldn't form a 3 Piece shit-rock band, what could I do?

I started thinking about a 2 piece, drums+Synth, or even just me and a gameboy. It was super hard to find something I didn't hate, well it took 13 years I guess!

Anyway, this release collects a few attempts at what ended up being a audio dead end. Maybe I could have taken it somewhere that didn't suck, but as its stands its a dramatic and exciting failure! it's just a bit too weird to and not fleshed out enough to be good. (and all the songs are sort of trying to do the same thing)

In order of recording:
* Track 3 (2009)
The first song I finished, I went and purchased an actual synth, and played it with some drums recorded on 3 mics. Check out the quality of that cymbal! (this was released years ago as a download, but I forgot all about it until now)

* Track 4 (2009)
Dead rising is a tribute to the mighty zombie, an awesome guy who sadly got taken out by cancer. The fact his nickname was zombie, clearly made some sort of coming back from the dead song a good choice (and dead rising is a capcom game)

* Track 2 (early 2020)
The drums for this were recorded at the same time that I streamed a show on youtube. In that set I played both this and "Total Arthole" but at the time I thought this was better / more finished which is why it was the only one I recorded.

In that show, I played 3 or 4 songs with drums and gameboy-synths, and the rest with guitars and gameboy-synths. As soon as I started playing the set loud in the studio, I instantly knew I probably didn't need to bother writing anymore synth/drum songs. The 13 years of worrying that playing with a drum machine would suck were finally behind me, and playing guitar with my friend "computer" felt natural and epic. But drums and synths just sounded empty and weird.

* Track 1 (recorded end of 2021)
In my recent hunt to try and find every sludgefeast song ever recorded, I discovered I had written this but had totally forgotten about it (it was probably written 1 day before the show, and then forgotten the day after). But being Diligent, I decided to go to the studio and record the drum parts and finish it.

The last track is a song about NFT's - aren't they great? If you want to buy one from me, please send $1000 and in return, we will send you a "Nice Fucking Tracksuit" limited to 1 copy.
